Custom sneaker poetry

For those who know me, I am not a very expressive person when it comes to relationships, weather is family, friends, or ladies. Nevertheless, expression as well as creativity are very strong need of mine, I get a sense of freedom expressing myself, and doing so in a creative way. It gives me a releaf and a sense of freedom, and latelly in my art I have been "finding myself", this sets me free.
I started attending open mic evenings and poetry bars. And as I explore different ways to express myself, and dig within to channel some thoughts, I felt like writing and I came up with these three poems.

Peace

Peace is simply what I aim for with my work, along with freedom of mind and expression. This poem expressess that need and the fullfilment I get from painting sneakers.

Herman

In this poem I put the artist that I am, in the skin of a raper. I speak about my custom sneaker art work as if I were a raper, speaking about myself, some of my background experiences, and my approach to my work, while in parallel comparing myself to some of my prefered artists.

Lack of Better Words

Lack of better words was the third one. In this one I wanted to clarify that I do not consider myself as a poet, AT ALL!!! lol simply comparing my art to poetry (art in which lots of times, my punch lines are not understood). This one is a little more dramatic, deeper, more metaphoric, than the previous 2, I was starting to get confortable with the pencil, almost felt like I was painting. But I had to stop and jump back on the sneakers, that is what you are here for, right? lol I might bring out some more later on, stay tunned!

Valentine's Day "Lions, Tigers, no Rose" Custom sneakers

Hello world! So I am back at it again, no polemics on this one.
So this was my valentine's date lol, since I could not have my valentine I decided to sing through these custom sneakers. The song is "Lions, Tigers, and Bears" from the up coming recording artist Jazmine Sullivan. This song describes my last relationship to a T, and I have been hooked to the song from I first heard it, so I had to get it out of my chest in the best way I know to.

These custom Creative Recreations sneakers feature a lion and a tiger, duh! lol and no roses, a common present on this date, and it so happens to be part of my valentines name , well who should have been that valentine. As I did for the "love, live, life" custom Creative Recreation snekers, I used a aqua (or teal if you prefer) tone, which for those who do not know me yet, is my favorite color. I tend to use this color to express love, so that was one of the reasons, and in this case I gave it more of a pastel look which looks more like a color that would be used for a baby boy, and this was to also express how I acted in a childish manner in some occasions.

We all know that we attribute value to things that are rare, that is what makes them special, and gold being a rare metal, is one of those things that has value, that is the reason for the use of gold. On the other hand, we also know that just because it feels good, it does not mean it is right, and everything that shines is not glitter, that is the reason for the patented leather. The use of black, is because I think black is beautiful, and I love it, just like I love sisters! that is what the black represents. The inside of the sneakers features quotes from the lyrics of the song, they are very tight together, making it hard to read or understand, which is part of the message of the song, and also one of the reasons why it did not work with us, things are unclear and hard to understand at times for some reason.

As I was doing my research, I found that as oppose to popular believe, tigers and lions are nowhere close to one an other unless you see them at a zoo lol. The tigers habitat is over southern and eastern asia an spreads even out into the cold Siberian lands, while the lion is mostly found in central and southern Africa. Funny because the distance is another reason why it would not work. I was actually searching for albino lions and tigers, and doing the research for them, I found that both species have a white race, very very rare but exists, I thought this was perfect to add to the concept of rare that was used with gold, our story was rare from the way we met, to the way the relationship went, to what we ment to one another.

As I mentioned earlier, the song sings the story to a T and the shoes do the same. Here is another piece straight out of my chest. Well I couldn't keep you waiting too long so I'm back again. Seems like the blogs views are going up, so I want to thank you for it. This means that all you followers will receive even more work to look at, more reflections, more feelings to be brought to the table.

This pair was supposed to be another "Young Marley" custom Nike Air Force 1, just like the one previously posted. The previous version pair got a nice share of attention, loved doing it the first time around, and the second time, and third, but once you hit the 4th repetition it starts getting old, so anything beyond that gets annoying. They say repetition makes perfect, well although the design becomes easier and easier to accomplish, it definitely gets boring! So I suggested my client to switch it up a bit, all she asked was to have more black than the original pair, and for the rest "do what you feel, I trust your skills" she said, that is music to my ears!!!!!

So the concept for these custom Bob Marley Nikes remains the same, a black and white picture of Bob Marley as a young man, his name, and the Ethiopian colors often used by Rastafarian because that is where king Haile Selassie is from.
With this pair I stepped the detail level up a notch. You will first notice that on the right shoe, the picture has more definition, I actually put more work on the skin for this one, it is more picture like, I also highlighted the dread locks in his head. On the left shoe I switched up the the way I had the name. I previously had a large font and the map of motherland, for this one I dug into my graphic design background, I wanted to see the outcome on a shoe. The content has two lions to represent the lion of Judah, found on the Ethiopian flag, it is a sign of victory from ancient history if I'm not mistaking. Finally, you all noticed the work on the stitching, something that I've seen other artists do, always was tempted but due to large amounts of orders never really gave it time to try, but here it is, and actually the lay out of the yellow stitching on black with the yellow
laces on the black tongue, are inspired by one of my favorite possessions, a pair of all black canvas Nike Vandals, with the green swoosh, white sole, and yellow stitching and laces.

Well here it is world, yet another one for you to enjoy, no controversy nor provocation on this one tho. And if you know the original picture you'll probably notice that I made his face expression happier, just modified the mouth and the expression of the eyes, I always felt like he was supposed to smile on this pic lol. Well this is for all you Bob Marley fans, reggae fans, Ethiopians, or followers of my work.
